Venice Airport

The Venice-Tessera airport is an international airport located 13 km away from the centre of Venice and is named after the famous Venetian merchant and traveller Marco Polo. It is one of the most important airports in northern Italy, preceded by the airports of Milan and Bergamo. The Venice-Tessera airport is connected to the metropolitan hinterland by a bus service scheduled according to the nearby Venice-Mestre train station. It is also connected to the Fondamenta Nove in Venice via a sea transport carrier called “vaporetto” (i.e. “steamer”). The current air terminal, designed by the architect Gian Paolo Mar, was inaugurated in 2002 and covers an area of approximately 60,000 square metres with plenty of services, distributed on different levels.
