Venas di Cadore

Venas di Cadore, a small hamlet in the municipality of Valle di Cadore, is located at the beginning of the Boite Valley, at the foot of mount Antelao. Situated in a splendid sunny position just a few steps from the lake of Centro Cadore, its parish church houses a work by Francesco Vecellio, the elder brother of the more famous Titian. It is a starting point for relaxing hikes; in its surroundings you can practice different sports, first of all cycling, on the "Long Way of the Dolomites" or hiking, penetrating into the dense network of paths that cross the surrounding woods. In winter there are some cross-country skiing trails available. In the village it is also possible to observe two military compounds that once were part of the fortification system known as Ridotto Cadorino: Pian dell'Antro and the Barracks of Col Sant'Anna.
