Passo Valparola (Valparola Pass)

The Valparola pass is located in the Dolomites, in the province of Belluno, and connects the Badia valley with the Falzarego pass, and then with Cortina d'Ampezzo on one side and the upper Agordino on the other. Here is also a small mountain lake, Lake Valparola. Given the importance of the pass at the time of the First World War, when the border between Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire passed here, a fort was built on its summit: the Tre Sassi fort, which was partly destroyed during the subsequent conflict. Today the remaining part houses the Museum of the Great War. Today, the extraordinary scenic beauty of the pass especially attracts racing cyclists who venture onto the narrow mountain road to experience unforgettable moments.
