Treviso

Treviso is an Italian municipality with a population of 85,136 inhabitants, capital of the homonymous province of Veneto, about 30 km away from Venice. Treviso has always been marked by a long religious and monastic tradition that has concerned it for long centuries, that is why it preserves many religious architectures: within its walls rise the city’s oldest churches and surviving monasteries; in the more modern districts, developed in the 20th century, are the relative parish churches, examples of modern and contemporary religious architecture. Squares, palaces, towers and countless museums are as many reasons for the city’s charm. Known under the name of "the little Venice", Treviso is bathed by several canals, all originating from the division into branches (called "cagnani") of the Botteniga. The river enters the city passing under the "Ponte de Pria" (Stone Bridge), where are some locks. Two other branches of the Botteniga run along the city walls before flowing into the river Sile, which laps the south side of the historic centre.
