San Candido

San Candido is an Italian municipality with a population of 3,352 inhabitants located in the High Puster Valley (Alta Pusteria), part of the autonomous province of Bolzano, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Today it is a renowned winter and summer tourist resort in the Dolomites, included in the “Tre Cime” nature reserve. It is full of old inns and hotels, some of which date back even to the 18th century. In winter it becomes a popular ski tourist destination thanks to the presence of innumerable slopes, suitable for cross-country skiing as well. In summer, in addition to being a starting point for excursions to the Tre Scarperi or the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, San Candido has also become famous for cycling tourism, thanks to the cycle path to Lienz, with a downhill slope of 600 metres yet accessible to most without any particular effort. It is also possible to travel the Val Pusteria (Puster Valley) by bike, but in the opposite direction.
