Passo Cimabanche (Cimabanche Pass)

The Cimabanche Pass is an alpine pass in the Dolomites located at an altitude of 1,529 m above sea level set between the Croda Rossa d'Ampezzo massif to the north and the Cristallo massif to the south. The pass is 15 km long with a 2.2% gradient on the Cortina side, while it is 16 km long with a 2% gradient on the Puster side, with a total height difference of 590 m. It joins the very famous Cortina d'Ampezzo with Dobbiaco, located in Val Pusteria (Puster Valley), part of the autonomous province of Bolzano. It is known to Nordic skiing enthusiasts because of the track that connects Dobbiaco to Cortina, as well as hosting a small cross-country skiing circuit. In summer it turns into the cycle path of the Dolomites. A few metres south of the pass are two small lakes: lake Bianco to the east, and lake Nero to the west.
