The school trip is an activity in which pupils are taken out of the school for educational and cultural purposes and can be significant experiences, as they offer learning opportunities, exploration and interaction with the real world and for this reason the journey must be safe.
It is necessary for schools to abandon the logic of maximum reduction in favour of the most economically advantageous offer, evaluating the price charged for the service in the light of transport safety.
Before departure make sure that the company is in compliance with:
- the risk assessment document (DVR)
- the single document of contributory regularity (DURC)
- registration in the National Electronic Register (REN)
Before departure make sure that the bus is in order with:
- insurance coverage
- Community licence (for travel abroad)
- the rental licence with driver
- routine maintenance
- the revision
- the tachograph
Before departure make sure that the driver is in compliance with:
- employment contract
- CQC
- license
- health surveillance
Respect and enforce the regulations on driving times and rest periods for train staff:
- the train crew must take a break of 45 minutes every 4 hours
- the train crew may carry out a maximum daily driving period of 9 hours
- Crew can be available for up to 13 hours per day
- the train crew must have a daily rest of at least 11 hours without interruption
